More Donations and Construction Plan Updates

March 22nd, 2008

We added another 3 blocks last Sunday – $60 – which narrows the gap to just under $72,000 needed before start! Total fund is now $458,885. Every block counts – at the meeting in November we said an extra donation of just $5 per week or $20-25 per month could add up to over $50,000 in a year and it is beginning to happen! Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.

Also, we have been informed that the Architect is nearly done with the plans. The Building Progress Committee will meet with the Architect this Wednesday and then the remaining Engineers will be able to complete their work on the construction drawings.

Praise the Lord the Building Fund continues to grow!!

Nine more “blocks” totalling $1,054.06 were added last Sunday, so that means we now have $458,430.06 in the Project Development fund.

If we think of donations as building blocks we have now added 85 blocks since December 1st. These blocks have varied from $5 and up! We are now over half way to the minumum fundraising goal established in late November.
The amount still needed to reach that goal is $73,464.

Expansion Project Update

February 25th, 2008

The Building Progress Committee (BPC) would like to update everyone with our progress since the vote in late November.

We have entered into a contract with Stuart Ross Architect Inc. The construction drawings are progressing and should be completed in early March. Once the architects have finished their work the BPC will re-approve the plans. This will then trigger the remaining engineers to complete their work with the plans. This would include structural, electrical, and mechanical engineers. We will get a finish date on the construction drawings once the engineers receive the plans. As a side note, the structural engineer, Simon Co. has been on site and already started work.

The BPC will soon begin the process of creating a tender package. This will include the completed construction plans and any additional instructions that each contractor should take into consideration when bidding. The tender package will include a method for each contractor to establish value for volunteer work.

The loan application to CEIF has begun but is ongoing. We require the bidding process to be complete before the application will be complete. Those in charge of this process don’t expect any difficulties in obtaining CEIF approval.

Project goes to tender once the construction drawings and tender package are complete.

Construction will begin as soon as possible after a contractor is awarded the project.

Praise God as we have raised over 51% of our minimum goal without a formal fundraising effort.

We’ve posted the latest drawings on the Plans page. We’ll use this site to keep everyone up to date with the expansion project.
